It's been a short while since I last did a life update, and this whole moving across Australia business is coming up super quick! If you're new to the blog or not quite sure what I'm on about - I'd recommend checking out the first post in the series here!
As of today, we've got six weeks left. I've been working pretty hard at clearing at my storage locker, and woohoo! Look at those results below. I'm pretty excited that I haven't had a complete break down as yet (I'm sure it's coming) but most of the boxes that were originally there have been successfully rehomed. (Read: sold)
Over the next week(s) I'll be focusing my energy back onto my room, which I personally think is a lot scarier to think about.
Before and after the couch going!
Moving across Australia - what's next?
The next steps are the following:
- We've got to start looking for a new house coming into the start of August. I'm not 100% keen applying for places I can't physically see, but Kyle's at least up there to do scouting. I'm still hoping that we're going to be super lucky and find a property that will be able to accommodate Wally, but I'm not super hopeful based on what I've seen over the past month.
- Tackle the bedroom as mentioned above. There's a heap of miscellaneous junk and tidbits that need to be sorted out, and I'm slightly stressing over it
- Start putting feelers out for work when I get up there. It's tricky as it's still too far out to really apply for anything, but I don't want to leave it too long!
- Also, start looking at selling my car. She's been such a babe over the last few years (and my first ever car!) but unfortunately she won't be coming with me.
Anything else?
I've been documenting a little bit more over on Instagram and Facebook. I feel like I really should've started a vlog on the whole thing - and I guess it isn't too late to start? I'm not sure if anyone would be interested in watching it. Let me know in the comments below if you would be!
I am glad that I decided to photograph the storage locker and the progress on this, and I technically have started doing that with my room as well. It's such a big job, and not one I'm really wanting to do again soon! I am pretty excited to start window-shopping for furniture and new appliances (Hellooooo coffee machine and new pillows!)
With all that said, I'm sure that there'll be more to come as the weeks come up quicker and quicker. With Melbourne currently impacted with its second wave of Covid, and Sydney starting to look pretty similar, whether or not the borders to get up to Darwin will be a thing in six weeks remains to be seen.
We can only hope for the best at this stage!
Wrap up!
Thank you as always for tuning in! Let me know in the comments below if you've got any questions about moving across Australia, or if you've got any advice from doing a big cross-country move before!
Until next time,
